Located on the beach in Rhode Island, Ocean House is a luxurious hotel with a rich history. It has been carefully restored to preserve its past while providing guests with an unparalleled experience. Ocean House captures the grandeur of New England's historic hospitality with its timeless elegance and refined charm.

The Goal

Our dedicated team at 829 Studios have passionately reimagined the online presence of the Ocean House, one of Rhode Island's most prestigious luxury hotels. The goal was clear: to craft a digital experience that lives up to the grandeur of the physical property and provides visitors with an engaging, user-friendly interface that amplifies the essence of Ocean House.

Research

Starting off the project, we sent out Kickoff Questionnaires, an Audience Survey, and a Stakeholder Survey. We also analyzed their Google Analytics Report for their current sites. With the information gained using the tools above we were able to identify areas of improvement for the property's website.

Wireframing

After conducting initial research, we began by creating rough layouts in the form of low-fidelity wireframes. These were then refined and developed into more detailed high-fidelity versions using Figma. The final wireframes were then presented to the client for review. We also built various prototypes such as a user flow for booking a room at Ocean House. This flow allows for easy navigation between the hotel options and within the system, as demonstrated in the accompanying screenshot.

Visual Design

While maintaining consistency with Ocean House's existing brand, we incorporated the client's refined visual preferences as we developed a digital design system and applied it to our wireframes. We emphasized showcasing the breathtaking imagery of the Ocean House property and surrounding area throughout the website, by allocating prominent visual spaces for them on each page.

Optimized for mobile

Our goal was to create a compelling experience on all screen sizes, with a particular focus on designing a stunning and seamless experience for mobile devices. This was especially important because we expected a significant portion of our audience to access The Estate's brand and content from their phones. By optimizing the design system for mobile, we aimed to provide an extremely user-friendly experience for our mobile users.

Ocean House Design System

Our goal was to create a cohesive digital design system for their visual language. To achieve this, we focused on revamping mobile design and improving navigation, typography, photography, and web accessibility. The resulting design system is based on components, which allows it to be easily applied and scaled across the entire website and all touchpoints.
